And for my next trick I’ll be unemployed!
Ever since I wrote the Let’s make a hobby startup post, the goal was to create a one man company that would allow me to travel the world without having to worry about expenses. The original plan was to end my employment in August 2015, assuming I had managed to reach at least 50% of my daily revenue goal.
Not unexpectedly year long plans has a tendency to change, mine not being an exception. Long story short, today will be the last day with my current employer, and even though I have yet to reach my revenue goals with FRVR I have absolutely no plans of getting a new job.
Today I am officially a full time indie game developer!
The plan is to spend the next ~16 months traveling the world, while working a maximum of 3 days a week. As there was a fairly high risk that my hobby startup would be a horrible failure I sat aside enough money to make the trip a reality regardless of the success of FRVR.
Looking back it’s clear that I grossly overestimated the amount of time I was able to set aside to work on FRVR, while still maintaining a day job and reasonably active social life. Even so I strongly believe in the potential of FRVR and will continue to spend the majority of my work hours on this project.
If you have a suggestion for a place or cool people I absolutely should visit, I am all ears!
